Slater week in Review & Look Ahead 9/28/15

Hello Slater Nation!

After an eventful and fun Homecoming weekend, that was a huge success, we at Slater nation are pressing forward for the end point of the fall seasons.  But before we do that, we are going to take a look back at some excitement that happened last week at SLATER NATION!

Spartan Race in Killington

Our Always, Fabulous do it all at Fair Haven Union High School, Jackie Phillips, took over 20 Juniors to help and assist at the Spartan Race in Killington on Sunday 9/20/15, to start off Homecoming week here at Slater Nation!  Great job in helping out a major event here in our Wonderful State of Vermont!  Thanks Jackie, and the Junior Class!

Junior Class WINS BEST Hall Competition!

In an ultra-competitive, but fun class war, the Junior Class, won the best hallway decoration contest!  Great job Junior class for an outstanding Junior JUNGLE!

BOYS SOCCER
The boys soccer team went 2-0 last week as they went up to Long Trail and won the game with a 4-0 shutout, with Senior Sam Eaton in the Goal, and then beat RIVAL MILL RIVER 2-0 in another impressive performance by Eaton.

In the Long Trail Game, Goals were scored by Senior Kyle Smith and Sophomore Nick Jones, then one by Gus Ruby as well as Austin Brannock! Senior leaders are coming on strong for Coach Ruby!  In the following game, Garrett Gonzalez scored, along with Kirkland Crowley to put the game away for the SLATERS!

Cross Country

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams continued to shine as they traveled to Mill River last week in another M.V.L. meet and took third place overall, for both teams.  Halle Coloutti continued her winning ways, as she continues to climb up the State rankings as a cross country runner.  Great work SLATERS and coach Dave Burrows!

Varsity football Homecoming vs. Poultney High

The Varsity Football team continued its strong play on both sides of the ball with a couple of Sophomores scoring on Defence.  Jake Stoodley started the scoring first on the defensive side with a pick six for 45 yards, and then Kevin Alexander scooped up a fumble and rumbled into the endzone for a 35 yard touchdown!  The Offense continued its strong play behind senior QB Ryan Alexander tossing passes for TD’s to Lucas Czarnecki, Dylan Ellis, and others, and Jordan Phillips as well as Tyler Wilson looked good running the ball for the Slaters.  Jordan Phillips continued his strong play, at times running through defenders and dragging them for extra yards!  Great Homecoming game slaters!

HOMECOMING DANCE

Homecoming culminated with the Homecoming dance, led by Hurley Cavacas, Mike Alexander and Jackie Phillips!  Great times had by all, and the Night, along with HOMECOMING WEEK was not only a success, but also Fun and memorable!  Thanks to all at SLATER NATION for showing enthusiasm, class and SCHOOL SPIRIT!

GO SLATERS!
